29th Swift Fly-In Update No. 1
It is only 16 days until we will see a bunch of Swifts landing at Westover Field. There are always some that arrive before the first day, Friday. This has always been a tradition that I personally would like to see continue. Teresa’s Place is still in operation and has good food.
Thirty-seven rooms have been reserved by “Swifter’s.” There are still a couple of rooms available at the “Best Western”, but Sutter Creek and Jackson have some new updated first class accommodations.
A suggestion made by one of the Swifter’s that has already registered, is that the “Fly-Out” on Saturday should be moved up to 9:00 am. Does any one have an idea for a good “Fly-Out?” I have an idea, but I am not a Swifter.” I think it is a good idea because it gives more time for lunch, wine tasting, and visiting the local sights, possibly a gold mine.
Friday: A BBQ in the only hangar where a Swift lives. The BBQ will be catered by “Incahoots” and a “No Host Bar” by the Jackson Rotary Club. Lunches at the airport by our EAA Chapter. However, you will find outstanding restaurants in Jackson and Sutter Creek. The Saturday night banquet will be at “Thomi’s, same as last year.
At this time, we have “Sierra Ridge Winery” (less than 4 miles from the airport) lined up to show you some of their great wines and John will provide a discount to all of you with your Swift identification. Of course downtown Sutter Creek now has 9 wine tasting rooms on Main Street, and that means it is like tasting wine from one third of all wineries in Amador County.
- The Best Western will provide transportation to the Airport and Hospitality Room as they have in the past.
- I need to provide Incahoots and Thomi’s with the number of people expected for dinner and I need to know by Sunday Sept.14th. The cutoff date for these events will be Monday 9:00 am Sept. 15th.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF THOSE THAT HAVE PRE-REGISTERED AND SENT IN A CHECK.
