We are really starting into the Fly-in season with Swift National on 5-9 June at Athens, TN, followed by Cottage Grove, OR 12-15 July and ending with Westover, CA 27-30 Sep. In addition, I have a list below, not exhaustive, of other fly-ins and air shows we can attend within a reasonable flying distance. So make sure the Swift and you are ready to make some of these events.

The Comfort Inn will be the fly-in headquarters. Call 423-252-8030 for reservations, say you are with the Swift group.
NW Swift Fly-in Cottage Grove, OR 14-15 July 2018

NW Swift Fly-In at Cottage Grove, OR Update #2
The first wave of reservations at the Village Green Resort indicate an adventuresome selection of Swifters arriving from the north (Canada) to the southeast (Louisiana) and points in between (Texas and Arizona), and, of course, Washington and California.
Exhibit Tables. We will have tables set up for Swift memorabilia, pictures (old and new), and posters for a possible poster session. For example, I am preparing a poster on SB M89-9 and how that has cured the annoying oil leaks in my Continental O-300 after all these years. I’ll have my instrumentation available if anyone would like to do the test. Consider sharing your experience with: crossing the border, early implementing ADS-B Out avionics, or anything you think would be of interest to Swifters.
The River Float. Back by popular demand, we will repeat the 2012 float trip. Once again, local kayaker Brian Forge will lead the trip and we met last week to work out details. For those taking the Row River float, your feet will feel better if you bring along some old sneakers for all those pesky pebbles. Here is a photo of one of the groups departing upstream from the airport back in 2012; that was a hot weekend and most everyone was happy to be on the cool water. Speaking of weather, our Oregon mornings will be chilly (in the fifties or so) while the late afternoons could get up to around 100 F.
Village Green Reservations: The Village Green is holding a block of rooms for Swifters until June 12; rates for double occupancy are $109 standard and $129 deluxe. For reservations, call the hotel directly at 1-800-343-7666 and ask for “The Swift Fly-In event”.
Fly-In dates are July 12 -15 with July 14 the main day. Camping under the wing is also available.

Westover 2018 27-30 September

The date for Westover 2018 is September 27 (Thursday) through 30 (Sunday). The fly-in hotel is the Best Western Amador Inn (209-223-0211) which should have remodeling completed by fly-in time. There are 20 rooms reserved at $85.99 a night, 14 days prior to the event extra rooms are dropped off the reserved list.
When making the reservation tell them you are with the Swift Fly-in Group. Hospitality Suite is being reserved and a Shuttle is being reserved. Denny’s will give you 15% off meals.
Legend of Flight Pancake Breakfast
The Legends of Flight Museum puts on a pancake breakfast the fourth Saturday of the month, April thru October. See flyer.
This is a nice get together with a wide variety of aircraft to peruse. I would encourage you to attend.
