Swift National Oct 4-8
Somewhere between 33 and 40 Swifts sojourned to Cleburne, TX for the 2017 Swift National. Difficult to keep up with the one day drop ins, etc. The RRSW had set up a really nice event there and the weather turned out superb.

West Coast Swifters who were there included from Diamond Point, WA, Johnny Johnson, Bill Shepherd, Ernie Hansen, and Gerry Mahoney; Roger Weber from OR; Gerry and Carol Hampton, Bill Gass, Karl Johanson from CA; Alan and Janet Dicker, George Snyder from AZ; Arye Maya from NV; and Bill Harris from NM.

Lots of formation training culminating in a formation competition consisting of three 4-ships and two 3-ships. The four ship competition was won by the Burrito Brothers, Johnny Johnson, Gerry Mahoney, and Bill Shepherd with Ben Wilson in the -4 position; the three ship was won by Paul Mercandetti, Will Kientz, and our own Bill Gass.

We were able to take the trip to Dealey Plaza and the JFK Assassination museum there and later in the week, dinner at the Ft Worth Stockyards. The museum was very good and informative with lots of displays and history. The Stockyards were chocked full of fun things to do and the dinner was outstanding! Beef is definitely the theme in Texas!

For the weeks schedule there were plenty of activities, both on field and off. The Ladies especially enjoyed the lunch’s downtown in some of Cleburne’s “hot Spots” with shopping included.

The Hampton Inn was Swift headquarters with an “impromptu” hospitality room each night. Plenty of camaraderie and hanger tales.
